Britannia Came from Blantyre

I’ve been telling this story for over 50 years and most times I had the feeling that people did not believe me and that I was making it up. It probably didn’t help matters that I would also tell them that Blantyre was named by Mary Queen of Scots when she was out riding on her white horse called ‘Blanche’ and this was where Blanche got tired. Therefore the name, Blanch tired became Blantyre. And we all know what a load of rubbish that is. Fortunately, with today’s internet, the truth can be certified by many sources. So, I am pleased to put on record, the story of Frances Teresa Stuart, the face of Britannia.

Britannia Came from Blantyre as few people realize. She was born at the Priory, Blantyre and was the Granddaughter of the 1st Lord Blantyre.
