Second Chance

Another chance is all I wish
For time enough to talk
For us to spend a little time
And take a little walk

Simple things I should’ve said
Now there’s no time to say
If only you were with me now
I‘d tell you all today

The times you were my hero
Not once did I let on
How much you really meant to me
My chances have now gone

The times you took me fishing
And hunting in the rain
I never ever thanked you
For the knowledge that I gained

You taught me of the streets
And how the game was played
How to build a perfect house
Without a brick being laid

If I could have a second chance
To say my last goodbye
I’d shake your hand and tell you thanks
There’d be no more need to cry…
