Produced in Blantyre 1985/1988
The Haldane 2 Seater Sports Car HD300 Austin Healy look-alike, was produced in the form of a Kit Car in Blantyre in 1985/1988 before moving to East Kilbride where the complete car was produced.
The car bodywork is GRP (Glass reinforced plastic). The chassis is made of square section steel space frame. The Engine is a 2 Litre DOHC by Ford and has a maximum speed of 125 Mph.
The above Haldane twin coloured (red and white) Reg. No. L558 YDS which has only traveled 640 miles, is the very last complete car built at East Kilbride and cost new £19,000.
The car was displayed at the London Motor Show and the Scottish Motor Show at the SEC. It was purchased in 1977 with the assistance of the National Fund for Acquisition administered by the Museum of Scotland and the support of our Museum Visitors. Production of the car continues at Sussex, England.
