A Breed Apart
A Breed Apart
There was nothing romantic about coal mining
Jist a life of bloody toil.
Jist a life of hard labour,
Underneath Scottish soil.
There was nothing romantic about coal mining
And the miners got scant reward,
While cold hearted bastards
Dined and gave thanks tae the Lord.
No: there wis nae romance in coal mining
Nor in any mining book a‘ve ever read.
Jist a long list of the names,
Of the injured and the dead.
