Blantyre Miners – Champions of Scotland

The Blantyre Miners Welfare Indoor Bowling senior team are pictured with the CIS Insurance Seniors Scottish League trophy which they won by defeating Falkirk in the final at the Bainfield rink in Edinburgh.

This is the second time the club have won the Scottish Title in the past five years.

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of a fine double for one of the Blantyre players, Willie Gibb (back row, fifth left), who was the Scottish and British singles champion in 1964.

His younger daughter Fiona has recently won her first bowls championship – in New Zealand.
