I couldn’t have a Hall of Fame without starting with my friend and Mentor, Jim Cornfield.
The most famous and prolific writer and collector of memorabilia in relation to Blantyre, a sprightly 84 year old ex-miner, firefighter and noted expert on all matters relating to Blantyre.
Jim was at one time the Chairman of The Blantyre Heritage Group and would often give talks and slide shows relating to Blantyre’s rich history.
We participated together, along with Andy Paterson, on the History Project at the Blantyre Resource Centre.
Jim and I were about to produce a video history project on the shops and buildings in Blantyre.
Many of Jim’s Poems can be read at Poems about Blantyre and Poems about Miners.
Jim’s passing on 13th March 2012 is a sad loss to Blantyre.
It was a pleasure knowing you and working with you Jim, I miss you.
