I Would like to nominate Mr David Hamil of Blantyre into the hall of fame.

Davie who at the age of 70 took up hillwalking and at the age of 76 had completed all 284 Munroe’s which are mountains over 3,000 feet, from the age of 76 he then went on to complete all 219 Corbetts which are mountains 2,500 feet and over.

I think Davie is a very special man to have achieved this at his age, Davie still walks everyday with his dog Jet, he will be 90 on his next birthday, he has been a big influence on my life and that of many others and is very well respected in the Blantyre Hill Walking club.

His daughter Rita informed me that David walks his dog every day from his home in Timbertown down to the Livingstone Bridge, crosses over and walks through Uddingston where he has lunch at Tunnock’s and a pie for his wee dog, then walks back via Whistleberry Road… just amazing!
