There is so much history in this photo…
Left we have the three story McAlpine Building on Glasgow Road and Alpine Street, after the demolition in Alpine Street.
Next right is Brown’s building and The Picture House, lovingly called the Doocot or Dookit. Opposite the Picture House is the Turner Building.
On the right at the bottom of Craig Street is Harper’s Garage.
Centre right is the Stonefield Public Infant School, Ness’s Wee School and dining hall.
Top left is the Blantyre Miners Welfare and then Calder Street J.S. School on Calder Street
