Summertime Blues

Summertime Blues

With the grass so green
And the sun so bright
I watch the flowers
Bloom with delight

Kids with ice cream
Their smiling faces
T- Shirts and tans
Folks with red faces

Trampolines and paddling pools
Laughter and joy
Kids so happy
Playing with their toys

Children with camps
From branches and trees
Playing football
Going home with skint knees

Summer sleepovers
Staying with friends
Barbecues and drinks
Summer night that never end

The sun is getting lower
As the leaves start to fall
Such a short summertime
Oh how we’ll miss it all…

Changing Faces (Blantyre)

When you strolled along this auld Main Street
In the days of time gone by
You always knew who you would meet
And the reasons why?

When you stroll along this new Main Street
You stop and wonder why?
You are frightened of who you might meet
It’s enough to make you cry.
