Blantyreferme Brick Works, near Uddingston c. 1924 – 1947

Blantyreferme Colliery

Blantyre – there was a large brickworks on Blantryeferme Road, which was on the right as you travel towards Uddingston from Blantyre immediately adjacent to the Blantyreferme Colliery, just before the wee arched railway bridge. The Brickworks served the Colliery with the kilns being located in the colliery itself.

The site was one of the first industrial sites to be spruced up and landscaped, with trees and walkways, although there’s not much else to it – last time I went, a board gave the history for the site, which adjoined Blantyreferme Collieries, part of which are still in industrial use.

Of course, as with all other Brickworks in Blantyre, they each had their own branding.
