Here we have the Dog Track which doubled as the Speedway Track which was owned and operated by Frank Doonin.

Here we have Craighead Sports Ground, home to the Dog Track and doubled as the Speedway Track which was owned and operated by Frank Doonin.

The last greyhound meeting was April 82 and the last speedway meeting was on 18th October 1981 Tigers versus Bobby Beaton’s Buccaneers.

In front of the Dog Track is Craighead Rows known locally as Baird’s Raws.

To the left of Baird’s Raws is Craighead Park, home of Blantyre Celtic F.C. You can see the entrance at the bottom right of the park. The terrace is mid field backing on to Baird’s Raws. Of course, the kids in Baird’s Raws didn’t have to pay to see the game, they just sat on their bunkers.

The road at the bottom is Forrest Street.
