At the bottom of Forrest Street is William Somerville’s Oil Refinery, known locally as the Oil Works.  To the north of the oil works was the L.M.S.R. Railway lines. This was the main railway line for carrying the coal into Glasgow from the surrounding coal mines.  William Sommerville Oil Refinery Entrance at the bottom of Forrest Street.
